This patrol took place just prior to Tet 1969. We were very aware of Tet 1968. The squad leader on the left. The locals didn't greet us with open hostility but they weren't glad to see us either. Remember this is private property. Would you want the police going through your yard every day? We're done here for today. The patrol continues on checking several other hamlets in the area.
Would you want to cross this rice field every day and do it 4 or 5 times a day not knowing what's on the other side. Are the locals as friendly as yesterday? Or has an ambush been prepared? Many times these patrols will not know the answer until they cross over to the next hamlet. Next | Previous
