Home Stories Veteran's Day Parade 1966
Veteran's Day Parade, 1966, in New Bern, North Carolina. Major General N. Anderson USMC, center, best commander I ever served under. Hey, isn't that veteran on the right kinda' young? Need we say anything? Photographer includes this photo only because it has forever intrigued him. Everyone gets to parade. Someday the vets will too. Local veterans. Blacks, in 1966, where just faceless unknowns in North Carolina. This was very soon to change. We wonder, did these young men survive the Vietnam conflict to become veterans themselves?
