Photoessayist: Crew Moving A Panavision Motion Picture CameraWhat you’re looking at is probably the end of an era. Motion picture production companys are fast converting over to digital motion picture cameras.

Camera shown is an Arriflex 435 ES. You can even find this model at eBay. Just viewed one that was for sale at $96,000 (Without a lens.) The camera is working on location for the newest Oliver Stone motion picture Savages. Location is Laguna Beach, CA.

ARRI is still in business and making Digital Motion Picture cameras. It’s called go with the flow or drown.

On Location In Laguna Beach

By , September 14, 2011 5:31 AM

Photoessayist: On Location In Laguna BeachOliver Stone was filming location scenes for his latest film, Savages, and I wanted to get a photo of the camera crew with the Lifeguard tower in the background. Of course I’m actually on the set but nothing is going on so I didn’t think it would be a problem. It was.

The two fellows starring at the camera weren’t too happy with what I was doing. But this is MY beach, not theirs. I got the shot, as you can see, and moments later a member of the crew kicked me off my OWN beach.

PS: As normal women ignore me.

On The Set With Oliver Stone

Photoessayist: On the set with Oliver NorthOliver ‘Red Socks’ Stone about to film another scene for his latest film, Savages. You gotta’ love his color sense: Blue, Red, and Yellow.

It’s just another movie about greed and drugs. A real wholesome family movie. You think not? We will see.
