A big advantage at USC is there seems to be a greater amount of shade trees and because the campus is smaller in size there seems to be less walking to see everything.
It also helped that the weather was very nice.
Note: The red balloon in the center background makes the picture.

Who is this guy? A fan, critic, writer, or maybe Michael Connelly’s dad?
Be honest I didn’t have the balls to go over and ask him.
And yes he did notice that I was taking his photo.

Tod Goldberg, center, Lee Goldberg, left, and Joseph Wambaugh, right
Tod Goldberg congratulates his older brother, Lee, after Lee’s conversation with Joseph Wambaugh.
Tod Goldberg has a piece in the Sunday LA Times Calendar, front page no less, on a place called LA. I enjoyed the essay so much I was disappointed when I got to the end. Wanted more, much more, but isn’t that typical of us readers, we’re never satisfied.
I think Tod has sleepy eyes. They’re almost always closed when I photograph him. This happens even when he doesn’t know I’m taking the picture.
Here’s the link to the story.

She had one child in the carriage and another on her hip and she still had time for the book. Good for her.

Crowd size was a big improvement over last year. Also the layout of the various venues was improved. Especially the placement of the Food Court. It was moved to the athletic field with the Food Trucks parked just outside the field. Cooler temps was also a welcomed surprise. Sunday was probably the coolest day of the Festival since I started going in 2007.
Although I miss UCLA the compactness of the entire Festival made it easier to get to panels. I didn’t try to see everything on the kids side of the Festival but I did get to visit all the merchants I was interested in.
And what was it with all the Cars.com bags. Couldn’t they have something that said “Festival”?
