Los Angeles City Hall. One of the great iconic buildings anywhere. It’s says L.A. better than any building in Los Angeles.
Those two or three story columns near the top is the observation deck. It’s open all day and it’s free. If ever in L.A. make an effort to go to the City Hall and get up to that 27th floor observation deck.
Like L.A. itself you’ll love it.
Angels flight. At the bottom is the Bradbury Building. At the top is the Los Angeles Museum Of Contemporary Art.
This is the view you get standing in front of the Disney Hall. A giant multi-level parking lot. What a neighborhood. I guess the palm trees makes it O.K.
Billboards around southern California are slowly disappearing. But they are not forgotten. Gary Leonard, a Los Angeles based photographer, aquired a box of Kodachromes that documented the billboards of the 50s and 60s. He turned those Kodachromes into a book. Now Mr. Leonard is using his last Kodachrome film to shoot the remaining billboards in southern California.
Here’s an article from Los Angeles magazine about Mr Leonards’ billboards.
I shot this Dexter billboard the day before I met Mr Leonard and we discussed our mutual Kodachrome projects.
The reason I took the photo was because one of my sub-themes was to get photos of downtown that included the city hall.
